This subject takes a strong person to stand their ground. I work with international students on a regular basis who are F1 status. Since 9/11 the INS has clamped down on criteria and paperwork required for international students (as they should have done earlier). These students have to abide by the laws of our land to stay here and are not eligible for federal or state aid. As much as I can say I admire the California students and especially if they are honor students, I can't say that they should be eligible for something that international students who are in the country legally are not eligible for.
It is a heart breaker to see how much living and being educated in the United States means to some of these international students. We may be disliked by more countries in the world than ever before, but as we hear daily regarding the immigrants, there are still millions of people from other countries who will do anything to be here and immigrants from Mexico are not the exception.

"We may be disliked by more countries in the world than ever before." So what! Those same people who supposedly dislike us come begging us to help the first minute they have some kind of problem. Their isn't a normal person in the world who wouldn't give an arm and a leg to live in our country, that tells you how they really feel.
